Care for Plated Jewelry: All plating fades with time and loving wear, Gunmetal plating will eventually become slightly shinier and silver giving it more of a patinaed appearance, depending on how textured the piece is. Rhodium is part of the platinum family and typically used as a plating for gold and silver jewelry. It is fairly durable and more resistant to scratches but as with all plated jewelry depending on your body chemistry and how often you wear your piece eventually the plating will fade.
There are some things you can do to maintain your plated jewelry and keep their plating lasting longer.
~ Store in a ziplock bag to prevent tarnishing.
~ Remove plated jewelry when washing hands, showering, applying hand sanitizer, hand cream, and working out to prevent fading.
~ Polishing solutions and creams may remove or fade plating, if absolutely necessary use polishing cloth can be used lightly on occasion.
